Initial ideas for my music magazine

Here are some idea of what I want to include in my own music magazine, who they will be aimed at and why.

The working title of the magazine
I has three idea's for the title of my magazine them being; X-clusive/XCLUSIVE/Xclusive, Extra or 'X' I wanted the title of my magazine to be based around the idea of it being an 'exclusive' or insight into celebrities of the music industries lives. X is the one that is broader and is the idea I think I want to use more than the others. X can be used for 'extra' or 'exclusive' it can also relate to the x-factor and celebrities ex relationships, it also says something about the magazine, for example it being eXciting or eXtraordinary. I very much like the layout and style of 'Q' magazine which is why it would be good for me to call my music magazine 'X' because I could keep it close to the style of 'Q' if I wanted to.

The target audience- demographics
•My magazine will more aimed females as they’re more into gossip and fashion, although it isn’t going to be completely gendered one side.
•The age range of the magazine will be 16-30 year old, however pre-teens will probably enjoy this magazine as they like to read magazines aimed at a older age range, on the other hand people ages older than 30 may enjoy this sort of magazine too. But 16-30 is the age range I am compensating for, and keeping in mind when considering what content goes into my music magazine.

The target audience- psycho graphics
My magazine is going to be a glossy magazine so it would be more aimed at ABC1 readers. It will also be for those people who like gossip and watch programmes such as x-tra factor to know more about the singers lives, and interesting things about them that aren't known on first glance. Those who enjoy lifestyle magazine's will also be a fan of this sort of magazine.

Price and publishing
The price of this magazine would be £3-£4 as the magazine will be a high quality glossy magazine, and the audience/customers will be usually ABC1 readers so they will have more disposable income to spend on this magazine. This magazine will be published monthly, in order to keep the content as rich and explicit as possible.

Content
The whole content is going to be based on the lives of celebrities that are only focused in the music industry.

  • Like '3am girls' in the newspaper, scandals from the celebrities, things they got up to that only the pap's took pictures of.

  • What they all wore to certain events

  • Tour dates and any interesting things that happened while they were on tour.

  • Information and gossip on their ex's and ex relationships

  • Personal interviews

  • While the x-factor is on, or any other music based show e.g The Voice; we get the inside gossip almost like 'extra x-tra factor' for those people who want to know more about what goes on when they are just on stage and in front of the camera's.

Style
The magazine Is going to be glossy, like I already stated. There will be a lot of pictures, related to fashion and what the celebrities are wearing. It will have high quality photos/ colours, such as Reds, whites, silvers and Gold’s.

USP or position in the market

There aren’t many magazines for women/girls/teenage girls this is mainly aimed at them, so it fits the Niche in the market. A lot of people watch programmes like x’tra factor and I’m a celebrity get me out of here extra, which admittedly isn’t music related, but people who have interests in the after math and extra bits of exclusive information, will enjoy this magazine. I think there will be a popular demand for this sort of magazine.
