In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenege forms and conventions of real media products?

I used the idea of having my ‘X’ from the masthead in the background like the ‘V'

This is where I took the idea of having the image go through the masthead. Also the positioning of Leona in this image is similar to Kennadys position in my product.

Q magazine is a glossy magazine is has a lot of readership and in terms of who it represents due to class and gender and age it is well respected. I worked closely to this magazines style when it came to the front cover, although I changed the colours to change the representation of gender from male to female. I changed the type of image to take away the sex appeal. However, I kept the glossy and high quality of the presentation the same to represent the same sort of social class.

I used the idea of a bigger letter in the left hand corner. I took the layout of the right hand justified cover lines and used them to create my left hand justified cover lines.

  1. Generally excellent Emma. A couple of improvements you could make:
    1. Explore the masthead connotations more - especially the colours and glittery textures that you took so much care to create.
    2. 'Spin' magazine is a proper name - capitalise the S.
    3. Your point about left-justified cover lines - actually your top block of lines is more interestingly spaced than simple left justification - which gives it more of a quirky design feel.
    4. When you talk about yourself always capitalise the 'I'.

  2. The title of this post should be the question, and the LABEL is the 'B. Eval Q 1' label. Same for all your posts.
